3.2.1 Introduction of use case

GMU WCS is an OGC Web Coverage Service for Earth Observation data, which implements the OGC WCS 2.0 Interface Standard – Core, and WCS 2.0 Application Profile – Earth Observation specification. GMU WCS package is released under the Open License a MIT-style license and written in C++ programming language, and entirely based on Open Source software.

The use case of GMU WCS involves how to work with existing code framework and how to extend it to support more data types.

3.2.2 Description of use case

The use case of GMU WCS package is used to show the detailed steps to develop and deploy an OGC Web Coverage Service for Earth Observation data. Several data formats could be served through the released GMU WCS package. The use case describes how to serve other Earth Observation data by extending GMU WCS to support more data types based on its existing framework, the related details and steps will be provided. The use case provides a simple XML schema to configure the dataset to be served. The use case also will show how to contribute the resources and the developed WCS service to the GEOSS.
